This garden was named “HAPPO-EN, " meaning “beautiful from all angles”. Nestled in the center of Shirokanedai City, is the 12,000 square meters Edo-era garden, comprised of natural hills, water features, historical buildings, and relics.
Japan was surrounded by the sea and far distant from the West and developed a highly distinctive culture. Refined artistic sensibilities and utmost consideration for others are well-known Japanese traits that are universally praised and draw attention worldwide. Happo-en is grounded in all aspects of Japanese culture—traditional gardens, architecture, culinary techniques, art, music, and many others—and we want to communicate these to people worldwide.
