Brothers Jeffrey Merrihue and David Bullitt grew up and lived in and around Boston's Italian North End and The (Italian) North Beach of San Francisco The North End and North Beach are the birthplace of numerous beloved dishes like Veal Parmesan, Spaghetti and Meatballs, Cioppino and the beloved Italian Hero sandwich which was invented in 1905 in Portland, Maine by Giovanni Amato. That Hero was the inspiration for Heroic Italian and its famous OMG! Sandwich. Meats, cheeses and pastas are imported from Italy while produce is sourced from local distributors and farmers markets. Sauces and spreads are made in house and bread is baked fresh every morning by Montescacro in San Francisco and Bread Lounge in Los Angeles. Heroic has received accolades from Eater, Gayot Guide, Thrillist and the LA Times. Heroic Italian now has 4 locations in California, including the original in Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, San Francisco and our newest location in Berkeley.

Staff is vaccinated against COVID-19
At Heroic Italian we do what we can to make sure we provide a clean and safe restaurant. We have a cleaning staff which handles wiping down and disinfecting tables every day. All of our staff is vaccinated and wearing mask during work. We are able to open doors in our private dining rooms to allow open air upon request. Besides this we make health a priority and are always ahead on the next safest thing we can do as a restaurant to help create a safe eating environment.
