We opened the first exhibition “It Happened at the Wall” in a small apartment. We moved into our current location, the “Haus am Checkpoint Charlie”, on June 14, 1963. The Wall Museum - Museum Haus am Checkpoint Charlie helped write history, became an island of freedom and today makes history a new experience. Checkpoint Charlie means standing up for each other, for freedom, and for human rights. People who still live in divided countries dream of unity. And for everyone, Checkpoint Charlie is a place of freedom and a place where world history manifests itself.
