Located in the heart of Puducherry, Rue Romain Rolland, the mansion dates back to when Puducherry was being rebuilt, in the 1760’s. During the course of numerous visits to Pondicherry, Francis Wacziarg discovered the house that was about to be vacated by the French administration as it had been declared unsafe. The building was named the «Instruction Publique» – the board is still above the entrance door. The house was officially acquired in October 1998 and restored to his past glory.
