About

The University of San Diego (USD) baseball team opened up the 2013 baseball season by showcasing their new state-of-the-art Fowler Park and Cunningham Field venue. The game, the first of three straight sold out contests with cross-town rival San Diego State, was televised nationally on Fox Sports, giving viewers across the country a glimpse of the ballpark's beauty, sightlines, and intimate atmosphere. The project was constructed in just 38 weeks and was made possible by lead donors Ron and Alexis Fowler, along with more than 100 other donors. Fowler Park and Cunningham Field greatly enhance the architecture, facilities, amenities, and overall baseball experience for the highly regarded USD Toreros, who have been one of the best programs on the West Coast during the past decade. Highlights of the facility include a grand entry archway detailed in 16thcentury Spanish Renaissance architecture that connects the ballpark with nearby campus architecture. This leads fans onto the McGee Family Entry Deck which gives spectators a spectacular view of the entire ballpark, and once inside the park, fans never lose sight of the playing field.
