Tonhalle Zürich

Built in a historicizing style shortly before the beginning of the 20th century, the Tonhalle underwent some changes over time: part was demolished, the congress hall was added, many of the original decorations were removed, and the colors were reduced and brought back again. Fortunately, the substance of the two halls remained intact, as the Great Tonhalle is one of the best acoustically speaking halls in the world. The entire ensemble is now under monument protection. Thanks to the Zurich electorate, who overwhelmingly voted yes to comprehensive repairs in 2016, it now meets today's diverse demands in front of and behind the stage - and shines with new freshness. After the renovation work from 2017 to 2021, the old sonic brilliance of the large hall is back.
