Ume
With a subtle touch of nostalgia for the past, Ume looks like a little cottage house you may find somewhere in an old, beaten, off the path street. Kind of how things used to be.
Ume does not set out to be authentically anything. It is its own concept with its own artistic and culinary direction. Ume was created and conceptualized by the founder, who was born in Manhattan, raised in Tokyo and grew up in Brooklyn. Ume is inspired by her travels- the experience and flavors she discovered from the places she's visited. The founder designed Ume personally, from the menu to the interior to the artwork displayed at Ume. With a love for good food and passion for great art, she created Ume- food inspired by art. We welcome you to dine at Ume with an open mind. Ume is not a traditional restaurant nor does it strive to be authentically anything. We continuously change our menu to reinvent classic dishes by incorporating new flavors. In fact, a lot of our dishes, flavors, and decor are inspired by our founder’s travel in countries other than Japan- Peru, Korea, Mexico, Scotland- and counting.
