The Brown Theatre
The Brown Theatre is a lavish, lovingly restored showplace. State-of-the-art technology combines with Old World splendor to create a performance space as beautiful to look at as it is comfortable to sit in.
The Brown Theatre opened in 1925 with Elsie Janis in a revue called Puzzles. The theater is named for J. Graham Brown, Indiana native and longtime Louisville resident. Modeled after New York’s famous Music Box Theatre, the Brown boasts a 40’ x 40’ stage that was equal to anything in New York except for the Hippodrome.
