In Catalonia, there is a profession that is held with pride to ring the bell of the church in town. Whoever holds this position is known as the campaner. The grandparents of the family that owns the restaurant were born in a farmhouse in Cabra del Camp in Tarragona. As the grandfather oversaw the ringing of the bell, the farmhouse was called Cal Campaner, and Jaume (the one who rang the bell) was called Jaume de Cal Campaner. The family continues to use the name and now shares it with the restaurant in honour of this tradition.
