Taberna de Angel Sierra
La Taberna de Ángel Sierra is known for being one of the oldest taverns in Madrid. The emblematic & well-known tavern is recognized for its antiquity & its spectacular decoration, from those bottles with years of history, to its old barrels, or taps.
The Bodegas de Ángel Sierra opened its doors in 1908, then it was owned by a certain Felipe who sold it to Ángel Sierra in 1917, who gave his name to said wineries that would later become the current tavern. Ángel Sierra reformed the establishment with tiles from La Cartuja in Seville and wood from Cuba. Later he took his son and when he died his sister Carmen and his wife Elvira. Currently the manager Felipe Gallego. You cannot miss a good vermouth on tap, currently officially recognized as the best in Madrid. Also some good beers or even a Guinness. In addition to a good typical Madrid aperitif, some good olives, some canapés, almagro aubergines and many others. The interior is large, with two separate areas. One area is the bar made of carved wood and tin, which is accessed from the Plaza de Chueca, or another, the old warehouse, with small tables that is accessed from the side. Its walls are decorated with beautiful tiles, 8 old oak vats and bottles. On the ceilings we can see very old frescoes and we can even notice the passage of history in them.
