Daoiz y Velarde Cultural Center
The Department of Culture, Tourism and Sports of the Madrid City Council has set up a new stage space in the Daoíz y Velarde Cultural Center, located in the Retiro district, which furthers the decentralization of culture in the capital.
The Madrid City Council and the Teatro Real have signed an agreement that enables a new project to be launched with the aim of becoming a reference cultural and artistic space for children and young people in the city, in which to offer an approach and learning in the field of performing arts, including opera, dance, text theater, puppets, musical stories, workshops and other activities for the whole family. The building, of 7,700 m2 distributed over four floors, has a large space for cultural events and exhibitions, a Main Hall with a large stage and capacity for 330 seats, a Multi-purpose Hall (with 72 seats in retractable stands and versatile stage space) , rehearsal rooms, workshops and other auxiliary units. With the start-up of this new municipal center, the Department of Culture, Tourism and Sports reinforces its commitment to the Madrid cultural fabric, increases the cultural offer in the districts and incorporates a seventh stage space in its theater network.
