Dublin Castle
Dublin Castle has been holding events for 800 years; that’s what you’d call a proven track record. The Castle is in the heart of the city and the heart of Irish history.
Dublin Castle’s conference facilities are located in the magnificent 18th century Georgian quadrangle of buildings. Through the ages the Castle has been at the heart of Irish history: from the foundations of the first Viking settlement 1,000 years ago through to the handing over of the Castle by the British authorities (where it served as a centre of administration and rule) to Michael Collins (the first leader of the Irish Free State) in 1922. More recently the Castle played host to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II during her historic visit to Ireland in 2011 and the celebrations marking the passage of the same sex marriage referendum in 2015. The Castle today is one of the country’s premier cultural sites and is used by the Government for prestigious functions of State, most significantly the inauguration of the President.
