The Theater am Potsdamer Platz in Berlin is a well-known musical theatre in the Tiergarten district. It was built in 1998 by architect Renzo Piano on Marlene-Dietrich-Platz near Potsdamer Platz and opened in 1999.
With 1754 seats, it is one of the largest theaters in Germany. Today, the Theater am Potsdamer Platz serves as a guest performance theatre and offers a wide variety of events. From musicals and plays to concerts and dances, there's something for everyone. Every year in February, the theatre serves as the main venue for the Berlin International Film Festival during the Berlinale and is called the Berlinale Palast during this time.
