Longtime residents and visitors alike may remember the days of The Nest of Ojai, a restaurant founded by Wachter's father, Eric Wachter, and her former stepmother, Lynn Katzoff, at what is now Ojai Café Emporium across from the Ojai Art Center on South Montgomery Street. At the time, Kiona Wachter's grandparents owned both the restaurant building and the neighboring hay-and-grain business, which still bears their name.
