North Carolina Museum of History
The North Carolina Museum of History hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including corporate dinners, cocktail receptions, legislative receptions, business luncheons, meetings, wedding receptions, and holiday parties.
The Division of State History Museums collects and preserves artifacts and other historical materials relating to the history and heritage of North Carolina in a local, regional, national, and international context to assist people in understanding how the past influences the present. The division interprets history through exhibitions, educational programs, and publications available to the visitor on-site or through distance-learning technologies.
Four public parking decks are located within two blocks of the museum, and a surface lot is located in the block east of the museum (enter off Jones Street or Edenton Street); note that hourly charges may apply during business hours on Mondays through Fridays, but these spaces are generally free on weekends, after 5 p.m. and on state government holidays (note that the museum is open on most state government holidays). In addition, metered parking is available in the area and is free after hours.
