Royal Frenchmen Hotel & Bar
Uniquely located in New Orleans’ lively Marigny District, on the outskirts of the French Quarter, Royal Frenchmen Hotel & Bar is a chic setting for birthday or anniversary gatherings, Mardi Gras parties and other events.
Facing Washington Square in the heart of Faubourg Marigny, the two masonry townhouses at 700-06 Frenchmen Street have a commanding presence. The property was originally acquired in 1843 by Julien Lacroix, a Cuban-born businessman and free-man-of-color, who likely oversaw the construction of the Creole-style buildings which now house Royal Frenchmen Hotel & Bar. After Julien’s death in 1868, the estate was purchased by his brother, Francois, who presided over it until his death less than 10 years later. Over the next several decades, the estate was sold several times; at one point in the early 1900s, 700 Frenchmen was home to a millinery shop. In 1972 the property was acquired by the Children’s Home of New Orleans. In 2017, Royal Frenchmen Hotel & Bar officially opened its doors. Since then, we have been committed to honoring our history and delivering an extraordinary experience to our guests.
