Part of the vibrance of the venue can be found in its history. From the 40's-70's, the building was known as Cavalaris Village. At this time, the building consisted of a bowling alley, a pool hall, and Charlotte's first roller skating rink; which is where Big Chill sits today. In preserving the spirit and history of this time, we continue to maintain all original hardwood floors from the roller skating rink days! In 1999 we moved in and originated as Charlotte's first and largest Motown/Rhythm and Blues/Classic Jazz supper club, hosting celebrity acts including The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Najee, Lavay Smith, Noel Freidline, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, The Glenn Miller Orchestra and John Legend. Every night our guests’ fine dining experience was coupled with live music, making our venue an energetic, unique asset to the city of Charlotte. Over time, the spaciousness and charm of the venue led to a high demand for private events, transitioning the Big Chill into Charlotte's premier special events venue. This transition still allows us to do what we love and do best: create good times and great memories to last a lifetime! We offer a 1,000 square foot dance floor and built-in grand stage perfect for any type of entertainment. The venue includes 2 full-service bars, one which is located in our fireside lounge creating a unique and cozy atmosphere for guests to mingle. The venue also offers several additional areas and rooms, perfect for any activity or display!
One of the best Big Chill features is our all-inclusive dining packages. No need to outsource caterers, servers, tables, linens, china… Our chefs and team will take care of everything! Your meal is prepared on-site to ensure freshness and a quality presentation. We also offer several flexible bar packages to match any budget. No need for alcohol licenses, permits or insurance. We offer several audio visual items and the perfect built-in stage for your presentation needs. These items include but are not limited to; LED uplights, in-house sound system with mics, 16 channel sound mixer, lavalieres, plexi-glass podium, a retractable 160” projection screen and floating projector, all centralized within the main room, making the space perfect for award ceremonies, launch parties, year-end celebrations, and more!

We believe in quality over quantity, which is why we only hold one event per day. Rentals include 4 hours of event time with 5 hours prior to set up. Additional hours can be added. Available weekdays and weekends.
