The past is twisty and its details are made bright in places by their corresponding shade, but of these five founders we are certain and in their values we are secure. We hold this truth to be self-evident: no Club is more than its members and no member is more than the Club. The flash of newsmen’s bulbs will fade and that which is In today will be Out tomorrow. Yet, do not grow melancholy in the face of life’s fleeting nature. It is the ephemeral quality of things – even food and drink – that makes people and the coming together of friends so much more essential to our very souls than anything else could ever hope to be. For in the fog and long shadows of the past lies an eternal well-spring of inspiration that shall drive our tiny craft toward each new midnight and the morning beyond.
