Overview
From MAS Event + Design
MAS produced the inaugural YouTube Gaming Creator Summit in Palm Springs. The event’s theme "Don't Miss the Glitch" paid homage to the gameplay of yesteryear. We wanted to create a cohesion between the world of gaming that we know and love and how the YouTube brand fits in to that legacy organically – with YouTube being the new and supportive community for gaming! To achieve this we created a “glitch” brand ID that informed the overall design and was pronounced in key moments such as the stage, graphics, content and invitations. Additionally, nostalgia moments and paraphernalia were intergraded.
The stage design featured vibrant glitch wall structures set against corrugated steel and complimented the branded digital content shown on presenter screens. This allowed the digital distortions or glitches in the video content to extend past the screen and into real life—creating an authentic cohesion between the brand and the attendee community.
Peppered throughout the hotel were gaming related photo moments, including a 60 foot long foam pit with giant custom retro-gaming foam pieces and a slow mo photo op. Guests could also get trapped in a life sized claw game situated in the arcade in the Creator Lounge.
We had insightful keynotes from Susan Wojcicki, Tony Hawk and Jane McGonigal. To cap everything off, we threw an exclusive hidden neon carnival in the desert, complete with its own glitchy LED art installation.
