The Katharyn Alvord Gerlich Theater, known until recently as Meany Theater, is one of Seattle's acoustic treasures and the primary stage for Meany Center performances. The 1,206 seat proscenium stage, comprised of 794 floor seats and 412 balcony seates, creates an intimate experience for audiences and performers alike. Tapestries woven by Danish artist Charlotte Schrøder are displayed on the stage during performances in the Presidents Piano Series and International Chamber Music series. The Katharyn Alvord Gerlich Theater is located in Meany Hall for the Performing Arts, on the southwest corner of the UW’s Central Plaza (“Red Square”). Meany Hall’s main entrance leads directly into Gerlich Theater.
