Inspired by the internationally acclaimed Camellia House (circa 1940 to 1977) of The Drake Hotel, this newly re-imagined space takes on the Modern Day Draper design as a nod to the high style of America’s most fabulous decorator, Dorothy Draper the first professional interior decorator in the industry and original designer to conceptualize the interior stylings of this dynamic space. The Camellia Room incorporates aristocratic flourishes like baroque plasterwork, romantic furnishing to add a touch of whimsy, statement wallpaper with large patterns, dense textured carpeting in neutral tones, chessboard marble tile and ornate window treatments framing the sweeping views of Lake Michigan and downtown Chicago complemented by warm lighting from the crystal adorn chandeliers and wall scones. Ideal for groups up to 200 guests. The Camellia Room is the perfect setting for corporate or social luncheons, receptions, dinners, holiday parties as well as a unique meeting space for groups.
