The open-air Cavea, named after the great Maestro Luciano Berio, represents the heart of the architectural complex of the Auditorium, with the double function of square, meeting place and amphitheater for outdoor shows. It has a hemicycle configuration and is divided into two parts: a paved lower one which leads to the foyers and an upper one organized in steps for the public. The theater square, all in travertine marble, is the most versatile space of the Auditorium, as it assumes a dual function: exhibition area of 560 square meters suitable for presenting new products or arena for 3,737 people seated, 5,128 with standing parterres. Taking advantage of the natural difference in height of 10 meters, its semi-elliptical configuration organized on two levels of steps is an unsurpassed example of acoustics. The Auditorium Cavea is the chameleonic space par excellence: on the occasion of the Rome Film Fest it hosts the red carpet, during the summer season it is the stage of the Roma Summer Fest, two months of concerts in which the most important rock, jazz, pop musicians and the protagonists of the author's music of the Italian and international music scene perform.
