The Imperial Cathedral in Speyer is reminiscent of the important era of the Palatinate in the Middle Ages, when the Salian emperors from Konrad II to Heinrich V ruled in the region and built the cathedral as a burial place. It is the largest Romanesque cathedral north of the Alps. A painting by the Speyer painter Karl Graf shows the cathedral from the Rhine side in this room.
