Built by architects Charles de Wailly and Marie-Joseph Peyre and inaugurated in 1782 by MarieAntoinette, this Italian-style theater is one of the oldest in Paris. It has seen the birth of great repertoire successes, such asThe Marriage of Figarode Beaumarchais, and since its creation has welcomed the greatest artists. The current ceiling was made by the surrealist painter André Masson in 1965 at the request of André Malraux.
