At Olive Lucy, our mission is to educate customers about the amazing world of Extra Virgin Olive Oils and Balsamic Vinegars and share our passion and knowledge about these culinary treats with food-novices to the most serious of foodies.
The original Olive Lucy shop opened to the public in November 2013, giving food lovers in the region a place to explore the exotic tastes of Ultra-Premium 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oils and Aged Dark and White Balsamic Vinegars. In 2017, new owner, Rishona Myers, opened our second location in the charming heart of Jenkintown, PA. Her goal, to offer the freshest and most authentic products, while providing excellent customer service. In January of 2020, she made the difficult decision to close the Huntingdon Valley location and transferred everything to Jenkintown. In March of 2020, the pandemic hit, but we continued to serve our customers through in-store and online ordering. These services continue today, even though the Jenkintown store has resumed normal business hours. We take pride in bringing our customers fresh, quality products that are not easy to find. As such, our mission is to provide everyone from the food-novice to the food-lover a place to explore the exotic tastes of 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oils and Aged Dark and White Balsamic Vinegars, as well as offer a supporting culinary pantry of products. We have spent the past three years developing and curating a gourmet pantry of products for our Olive Lucy Gourmet Pantry line, including spices, seasonings, salts, jams and jellies. The Pandemic allowed us to write the next chapter in the Olive Lucy story. We developed our new tasting program - which can be conducted online, in person or hybrid.
Olive Lucy is an equal opportunity employer. We have a diverse and inclusive team, from our retail staff to our business operational partners. Many of the products we source for our shop are from other local small businesses, just like our shop. Through our Farmers' Markets and local festival days, we have developed great relationships with several local, male, women and minority owned business. We now partner with them and they supply us with our raw honey, granola, baked goods and bread. It's a win-win for all of us. As we continue to grow we are always looking to partner with and develop new products to meet the needs of our diverse community.
We currently follow all recommended health and safety guidelines as issued by the CDC, OSHA, federal, state and local mandates/recommendations as the relate to our business practice.
At Olive Lucy, we strive to use recyclable and sustainable products in our shop. We recently partnered with a local company that helps individuals and Businesses reclaim and recycle their glass. The program is currently in pilot mode, but we are hoping to reclaim much of our glass and and reuse it in 2022 to help reduce how much glass we are putting out in the environment. Additionally, for our paper products, we try to source the majority as recycled paper - from our bags, to shred, to shipping boxes. When we do ship, we use the dissolvable packing peanuts to reduce the amount of styrofoam and plastic. Finally, since we have increased our shipping from online orders, we have made the commitment to reduce our carbon footprint by making sure our shipments are classified as carbon neutral through our carrier.
