Overview
From MCW EVENTS
GitHub, a Microsoft-owned company and one of the most prominent open-source communities on software development for 50 million worldwide users, came to MCW Events to help them reimagine their Satellite program. This was GitHub’s first virtual conference and it was free for everyone to attend. With just a mere five weeks of ramp time, MCW led production on the 12-hour live broadcast with two concurrent tracks; Work which focused on GitHub key announcements and features, while Play highlighted creative uses of code including music and creative visuals. The program featured 40 speakers from around the globe and also six 1/2 day hands-on workshops on the final day of programming.
While content was the main attraction, creating an engaging and captivating experience for their community was core to the program. This meant prioritizing authenticity and humor, both true to the GitHub brand. To get there, MCW Events strategic guidance included helping the client understand that the goal is to design for progress not for perfection and that their audience would appreciate the humanity displayed in the program. The response and end result was out of this world.
