Physics experiments were once conducted in this wonderfully colorful room. The audience stood on the balcony surrounding the hall to watch. Among other things, the famous drop test was done here, by making a hole in the ceiling and dropping an object through it. For example, an attempt was made to measure gravity. It will therefore perhaps not surprise you that the Department of Physics used to be housed here. But where does the Shaffyzaal owe its name? This has to do with the memorable performances of the famous singer Ramses Shaffy, in collaboration with Liesbeth List and Freek de Jonge. The Shaffyzaal is extremely suitable for performances, creative break-outs, parties, receptions and dinners. The windows around the room let in a lot of daylight, but they can also be completely darkened for a performance or party. Unique is the private reception area with bar that has been created in the hall with a large wall.
