Conceptualization and Design Collaboration: Collaborating closely with Es Devlin, we delved into the conceptualization of the “Your Voices” sculpture. Our team worked to understand and interpret the artistic vision, ensuring our fabrication techniques would accurately reflect the intended message of cultural connection and linguistic diversity. Fabrication of Kinetic Sculpture: Utilizing our expertise in custom fabrication, we meticulously crafted the 700 glowing cords representing New York City's 700 spoken languages. The fabrication process demanded precision and innovation, particularly in creating the kinetic aspect of the sculpture, which involved intricate tensioning between structural arcs. Transportation and Assembly: The sculpture components were transported to Lincoln Center’s Josie Robertson Plaza with utmost care. Our logistical planning ensured the safe delivery of these intricate pieces. Upon arrival, the assembly required a detailed and methodical approach, with our team working diligently to construct the revolving illuminated network. Installation and Technical Setup: The final installation was a meticulous process, not only in the physical setup but also in integrating the multilingual soundscape created by Polyphonia. This involved synchronizing the sculpture’s movement with the audio, enhancing the immersive experience as it rotated through the cardinal directions.
