Woman's Leadership Conference

On September 1st, The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works hosted their annual Woman’s Leadership Conference at The Westin Bonaventure Hotel & Suites in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. Over 1,000 attendees came to celebrate woman leaders and to find inspiration within one another. This event’s mission is to encourage and inspire women to seek leadership opportunities in the workplace, community, and government. This year’s conference celebrates the journey of overcoming life’s hurdles and our growth as individuals and as community, lifting each other up to reach our greatest potential. Whether it is the global pandemic or our own personal battles, we show up, are resilient, persist, We RISE from challenges and come out stronger. The conference was filled with networking opportunities, breakouts and the program was filled with many life changing discussions from incredible speakers including Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell (2nd District Supervisor, Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors), Amal Kassir (Spoken Word Poet and Activist), Dr. Deshauna Barber (Non-Profit CEO, Army Reserve Captain and Former Miss USA), Marissa Orr (Former Executive at Google and Facebook and Best-Selling Author), Michelle MiJung Kim (Author, The Wake Up: Closing the Gap Between Good Intentions and Real Change; CEO & Co-Founder, Awaken), and Stephanie Wiggins (Chief Executive Officer, Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority).
