XDA partnered with Warner Media to promote Season 3 of HBO Max’s Doom Patrol at New York Comic-Con. Doom Patrol reimagines one of DC’s most beloved properties — part support group, part superhero team — the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. This creative experience cut through the noise of a very noisy Comic-Con — exciting and energizing Doom Patrol fans around the upcoming season 3 of the show and intriguing those who hadn’t yet seen the show to become fans. The 1,200 sqft outdoor space featured an eye-catching 18FT tall red and yellow striped big top tent and a re-creation of fan-favorite character Danny the Ambulance (who was brought to life and fabricated as a true ambulance vehicle). Under the tent, attendees could interact with a series of games which each embodied the unique essence of characters on the show. Fans could race on Cliff’s Slot Car Speedway with custom slot cars featuring characters from the show, attempt to navigate Larry’s Negative Energy Maze, take Crazy Jane’s Personality tester to discover which of the character’s 64 personas they most resemble, and try to grab prizes at Vic Stone’s Cyborg Claw Machine. The creative team dove deep into the fandom to ensure every part of the experience was carefully considered for how it related to the characters and the show. Nothing was arbitrary, every detail was purposeful and riddled with underlying references and hidden easter eggs.
