Overview
From RJ Whyte Event Production
Washington Performing Arts originally had their event scheduled in-person on March 14 but when the public health emergency was declared in Washington, DC (three days prior) we quickly pivoted their event into a virtual one. Friday morning (about 36 hours after the decision was made) our decor partner Syzygy began their load-in to the ballroom. They were able to shrink the original stage set down and set it up to create the backdrop for the event. Team RJ Whyte and WPA put finishing touches on the run of show and script, set up the silent auction, and made sure that everything was tied up nicely for Saturday. Team RJ Whyte was up Saturday morning bright and early welcoming Event EQ and Showcall to began their load in of all AV and technology needed to produce a “Virtual Gala”. Throughout the day the transformation took place. As we neared closer to our show time rehearsals began and run throughs. And then promptly at 6 pm we were live via WPA’s website/Facebook. The livestream went off without a hitch! Washington Performing Arts was able to raise funds that are vital to their programming, and because the “Virtual Gala” was open to the public WPA’s reach stretched far and wide.
