Facebook recruited Redstory to design an evening to celebrate the launch of their new data center. To commemorate such a grand accomplishment, Facebook wanted to create a one of a kind celebration for their team. At the end of the night, they wanted employees to walk away not only feeling deeply appreciated, but feeling a sense of affinity toward their community. The challenge was to create a moment that would truly be unlike what any guest had ever experienced, whether an executive member of Facebook’s team or a member of the site construction team.
With our extensive background in behavioral science and experience design, we recognize that not every guest defines “fun” the same way. We sought to intentionally create a space for everyone present to feel equally celebrated and loved, regardless of personal preference, job title, or age. In order to provide a celebration for all as requested by the client, a focus on inclusivity was a must. By planning this way, we were also able to align the event design with a value shared by Facebook and Redstory. We implemented various lighting, sound, and spatial designs throughout the space to create an environment everyone would enjoy and to ensure that Facebook achieved the most ROI per square foot of venue possible.
