New York City Marathon Opening Ceremony

The TCS New York City Marathon Opening Ceremony Presented by United Airlines, a spectacular event that celebrates the diversity of the race, kicks off TCS New York City Marathon weekend. A Parade of Nations showcases runners from around the world as they parade across the TCS New York City Marathon finish line. Representatives from NYC running clubs and several U.S. organizations, as well as professional runners and wheelchair athletes, are part of the procession. The TCS New York City Marathon Fireworks Presented by Poland Spring lights up the night sky after the parade. Livestreamed on ESPN3 and local broadcast is a perennial ratings winner on WABC-TV. I was the Event Director from the initial concept development to final production on the inaugural and annual event, in which I partnered with city agencies to deliver this special new event for 1,200 participants and a live audience of over 10,000.
