Overview
From Department Zero Inc.
Pop-Up apple orchard in New York City to educate consumers on Opal brand apples. The pop-up experience visually transported visitors to the Broetje Farms in Washington State, home to Opal apples, for a fun, hands-on interactive experience.
During National Apple Month, Department Zero was able to secure a retail location on Orchard Street in lower Manhattan, NYC. The pop-up included special tastings, 3-D photo experiences, virtual reality orchard tours, crafts, contests and giveaways, and an Opal apple tree for apple picking.
The two-story venue hosted seven photo experiences for consumers to take photos and share on social media using the #OpalOrchardNYC hashtag. All elements were designed to appeal visually to the consumer while connecting them to the brand. In addition, Opal’s very own Orchard Expert, Paul Esvelt, was on-site to engage with visitors and share his knowledge and love for Opal apples along with his favorite recipes and special demonstrations. Visitors to the Opal Orchard had a chance to take home this season’s harvest before they hit stores later that month.
The pop-up generated so much interest that the client was invited to appear on the Fox & Friends Morning Show on National Apple Day. Department Zero was able to produce an entire fall festival on the plaza for live TV with just days’ notice and earned the brand constant exposure throughout the morning program.
