Last year, City Fitness hosted a huge bash to celebrate their 11th birthday at The Fillmore. Part group workouts, part silent disco, part DJ concert, Commotion had hundreds of people moving in sync to the music at an iconic concert venue, all for a great cause. Oh, and did we mention the confetti canons? It was so epic that City Fitness decided to bring it back this summer on August 22nd — but this time, twice as big.
“This is a celebration of what City Fitness is all about,” Ali Stauffer, City Fitness’ VP of Marketing, explained in a press release. “That includes building a tight-knit community, creating workouts you look forward to, and helping build a fitter Philadelphia.”Because the event sold out in just 24 hours last year, City Fitness is hosting two 250-person workouts this year. During each hour-long session, attendees will be divided into three groups and given silent disco headphones. From there, each group will cycle through the three stations — cycling, HIIT, and dance cardio — while tuning into a different live deejay and rockstar fitness instructor at each station. (Don’t want to sweat? You also have the option of skipping the working altogether and just chillaxing in the lounge with entertainment led by deejay and producer OddKidOut.)
