Each year we host hundreds of groups and events at the Zoo from 20 to several thousand people through a variety of discount admission, picnic and private catered events.

Detroit Zoo

Buddy’s offers picturesque views of the Zoo’s historic Rackham Fountain from the dining room, an outdoor patio and a rooftop
terrace that boasts the highest vantage point in the Zoo. Capacity – 75 seated indoors/45 strolling outdoors.  Available May - early September.

Buddy’s Pizza

The exquisite fountain, with two bronze bears standing 10 feet tall in the center of a formal pool, is an awe-inspiring venue for an evening wedding ceremony. Available April - September.

Rackham Fountain

The floating boardwalk will bring your guests into the heart of Michigan wetlands with the native fish, frogs, turtles and birds. Available June - August.

Cotton Family Wetlands Boardwalk

This rustic, open air venue is most ideal for evening receptions. Included with your rental are elegant Italian string lights,
which set the ambiance for any occasion. Available May - September.

Events Pavilion

Impress your guests with an up-close look at the tallest animals at the Detroit Zoo. A private stroll through this exciting habitat
makes for a memorable evening. Available May - August.

Giraffe Plaza

Enjoy a perfect view of majestic tigers and charming red pandas during your evening event. Deliver an experience your guests will talk about for years to come with a night in the Asian Forest. Available May - August.

Asian Forest

Join us for a summer evening on our charming patio. This intimate space will provide your guests with a refined backyard experience. Available May - early September. 

Za’atar Patio

This rustic log cabin features an observation area with expansive viewing windows overlooking the Cotton Family
Wolf Wilderness. Available May to August.

Log Cabin

This beautiful, historic building is home to the most outstanding feature – the lush, tropical Butterfly garden.

Wildlife Interpretive Gallery

The Frederick and Barbara Erb Polar Passage provides breathtaking underwater views of polar bears and sea otters. Have your dinner or cocktail reception winding through a 300,000-gallon chilled marine environment. This space is available from May - September. 

Arctic Ring of Life

This center provides views of penguins above and below water, as the birds swim, dive and soar around you and your guests. 
Available May - August.

Polk Penguin Conservation Center

The Ford Education Center provides a choice of studios (themed classrooms), a conference room or theater for
your meetings and social events.
