Stanley Field Hall is a premier Chicago event space, with iconic features everywhere your guests look: African elephants prepared by famed taxidermist Carl Akeley, large hanging gardens and flying pterosaurs, and our (literally) biggest attraction, Máximo the Titanosaur.

This expansive hall can accommodate a wide range of events—wedding, galas, and more. Customize your event by making use of the second floor balcony or, weather permitting, outdoor terraces and other adjoining spaces. You can also  encourage guests' curiosity with exclusive access to our ongoing or temporary exhibitions.

The East Atrium and Pavilion offer guests an easy, accessible entrance from the east side of the museum and features a dazzling glass ceiling suited to both sunny daytime events or evenings under the stars. 

Guests can also enjoy complimentary access to our permanent exhibition Inside Ancient Egypt—a perennial visitor favorite—for the duration of your event.

Once used exclusively by Field Museum staff, the Founders’ Room is now available for intimate dinners, board meetings, seminars, and more.

The room was originally the office of Stanley Field, who served as museum president from 1908 to 1964. Today this space features specimens and objects from the museum’s collection, a decorative fireplace, and ornate crystal chandeliers. South- and east-facing windows offer abundant natural light and views of the Museum Campus.

This modern space, which opened in 2015, is the perfect setting for an elegant cocktail reception or seated dinner. The indoor garden’s eastern exposure offers beautiful natural light for daytime events, and the space features striking design elements such as bamboo flooring and eight ancient limestone formations from China known as spirit stones.

The James Simpson Theatre is a premier venue perfect for large corporate and other professional gatherings. Guests can enter through our West Entrance, adjacent to theatre.

Classic architectural elements, including Doric columns, ornate recessed ceiling, carved moldings, and chandeliers meet the latest in presentation technology. Equip your presentations and lectures with HD- and 3D-quality video and full-cinema surround sound. 

The theatre is part of the Rita and John Canning Conference Center. When combined with the Montgomery Ward Lecture Hall and other classrooms, this space can accommodate up to 700 event attendees.

The A. Montgomery Ward Lecture Hall is a comfortable, intimate space for presentations, conferences, film screenings, and more. 

The space offers accessible seating and entry, and is adjacent to the West Lobby, which can be used for registration, breakfast receptions, or socialization during breaks.

The North Portico is an opportunity to showcase your event on the front lawn of the Museum of Science and Industry. This expansive space can be tented for up to 1,500 people or provides a luxurious Museum entranceway for your gala or fundraiser.

In case more than 400,000 square feet of exhibit space isn’t enough for you, consider adding an outdoor space to your private event! With lush landscaping, the South Portico is adjacent to the waterway created for the 1893 Columbian Exposition, the Jackson Park Lagoon.

Your guests can dine in the shadow of a legendary World War II German submarine. This impressive two-story space is perfect for separating reception and dinner. The U-505 comes complete with dramatic lighting and a customized soundtrack. Guests can enjoy 200 artifacts, interactive exhibits and a facilitator-led onboard tour of the boat.

The main floor can accommodate classroom seating for about 100 people with locations for breakout sessions and food service in close proximity. The Giant Dome Theater is the perfect venue for corporate presentations or a private film screening. Projected on a five-story, domed wraparound, your message will come to life on this giant screen! The Giant Dome Theater is rented in concurrence with the Henry Crown Space Center, which provides an out-of-this-world backdrop for your special event’s intermission.

The Little Theater is the perfect setting for small lectures, performances and team presentations. The intimate 200-person space comes with a small stage, podium and audiovisual technology. The Little Theater is located adjacent to the West Pavilion, which is a great breakout area for daytime special events.

An ideal space for intimate functions, the Nichols Board of Trustees Suite boasts wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling views of Millennium Park, the Frank Gehry Pritzker Pavilion, and Chicago’s northern skyline. This exclusive venue is accessible by private elevator and not open to the public, making its spectacular views a rare treat. The small lobby that accompanies the space may be used to welcome your guests with butler-passed champagne and hors d’oeuvres or to station your meeting’s registration.

The outdoor Bluhm Family Terrace is located on the third level of the Modern Wing, just outside Terzo Piano, and offers stunning views of the Chicago skyline and Millennium Park. Pritzker Military Museum & Library

Guests will enjoy dramatic views of Millennium Park and Michigan Avenue through the building's architecturally designed Chicago-style windows. The Point, which makes up the entire main floor of the Museum & Library, showcases most of the exhibits on display, including a hand-sewn 1898 American flag and an authentic Medal of Honor from WWII.

The Museum & Library’s two-story Lecture Hall is an intimate space with theater-style seating. A production studio, fully equipped with top-of-the-line technology, can support anything from a basic presentation to full stage production. The Gallery is the most versatile space the Museum & Library has to offer, with an open-floor plan and an intimate feel. The space comes equipped with audio and visual capabilities, ranging from the use of a microphone to presenting through the LCD screen located in the space.
