In 1944 Frank Stokes captain of the mission called The Monuments Men was around the Tuscan countryside look for one of the most important Italian artwork and was coming in the small village of Mensanello in the Villa called the Bishop s Villa that inside a big wooden box he found the beautiful art piece of La Maesta of Duccio Boninsegna carried from The Opera Museum in Siena to Villa Sabolini to hide and protect it from the Nazi s raid In the last 10 years it has been transformed into a four star hotel and this enables our guests to admire and enjoy the charm of Living in the Past Villa Sabolini has 40 rooms all finely furnished in an elegant and classic Italian style with canopy beds cotto floors and precious marble bathrooms which frame a relaxing holiday in the Tuscan count
