Casa Sagnier is housed in the building designed by architect Enric Sagnier in 1892 as a family home and architect's studio. This 51-room luxury hotel is located along Rambla de Catalunya near Paseo de Gracia and is a short ten-minute walk from Gaudi's most iconic Modernist buildings in Barcelona, such as La Pedrera or Casa Batlló. The Casa Sagnier building, originally called the “Casa Dolors Vidal de Sagnier” in honor of Enric Sagnier’s wife, was built in 1892 in one of the most elegant areas of Barcelona’s Eixample neighborhood as a family home and architect’s studio. With no pressure to appease clients, Sagnier gave free rein to his creativity in designing the Casa Sagnier building, which blends elements of Gothic architecture with different ornamental sculptures. Enric Sagnier is the architect who designed the largest number of Modernist buildings in Barcelona and is considered one of the most important architects of the Modernist movement, together with Gaudí, Puig i Cadafalch, and Domènech i Montaner. After many years of use as a residential building, it was converted into a hotel in 2008. It was restored in 2021 to bring back its original character. Today, the five-star boutique hotel Casa Sagnier pays homage to the life and career of this prolific architect from Barcelona.
