Built in 1966, the Downtown Reno Library is an architectural gem serving as the urban hub of the library system. Whether you live here or are just visiting, we invite you to stop by and appreciate the Downtown Reno Library and all it has to offer.
Architect Hewitt Wells couldn't put the library in a park as he wished, so the library was made as park-like as possible, featuring hundreds of plants, several full-grown trees, and a pond with a fountain. The curved flowing lines of our building make it a delightful place to browse or sit down with a good book. The Downtown Reno Library has received numerous awards and recognition for its unique architecture, including being voted the library with the "coolest interior space." Our centrally-located library serves the downtown residential and business community with a variety of services: public Wi-Fi, leisure reading, computers with internet access, and audiovisual materials including DVDs and books on CD. We focus on the information needs of our patrons with an extensive reference collection and our Nevada files containing thousands of articles relating to local news and history. We also have a complete collection of local newspaper microfilm. A balcony with an art gallery and an auditorium with a grand piano round out our beautiful facility. The Downtown Reno Library has and auditorium and a small meeting room available for reservations. We also offer a "Zoom ROOM," a single occupancy phone booth pod on a first-come-first-served basis.
