A new ‘old school,’ New York-style Italian restaurant has quietly opened in Mayfair from former Soho House man Martin Kuczmarski. Formerly group COO at the private members’ club, Kuczmarski said The Dover is a place of ‘unpretentious elegance,’ somewhere for diners to enjoy classic Italian dishes and martinis into the early hours. He said the restaurant uses candles, double tablecloths, and employs a traditional menu, with dishes such as avocado tart, prawn cocktail, chopped salad, spaghetti and meatballs, and lobster ravioli. There’s no vodka rigatoni a la Carbone but that appears to be the vibe. In charge of the food is Valentino Pepe, who studied in Italy before working for Alan Yau and Gennaro Vitto.
