Hereford House - Independence
Hereford House in Independence is located next to the Hilton Garden Inn off of I-70 and is the place to enjoy a classic Kansas City steak.
In 1957, Kansas City's Hereford House steakhouse opened its doors near the vibrant stockyard area downtown. In this cattleman's town, Hereford House quickly became a legend! Now with four locations, much of what made the Hereford House a popular destination is still in place today. Steaks are still hand-cut, aged for over three weeks, and always grilled the only way steaks should be grilled – over hot hardwood coals! Other Hereford House original offerings include the popular jumbo sea hogs, must-have carrot cake, and historically traditional iceberg lettuce steakhouse salad. You'll hear longtime Hereford House regulars ordering their salad with the "pink and yellow." combination of the homemade creamy Italian and cheddar cheese dressings – a staple since 1957 when iceberg lettuce was all the rage! You won't find a Kansas City native who doesn't have a memory of family gatherings or celebrations at the Hereford House and that tradition continues today, with banquet space and catering available at every location.
