Otro Oaxaca
Authentic local allure in the heart of Oaxaca City. Behind its historic façade lies a contemporary complex that extends the vitality of the public square through a series of picturesque courtyards, a lively rooftop terrace and cultural spaces.
Another Oaxaca immerses travelers in a different perspective of Oaxaca, one that is undoubtedly authentically local. Located in front of the Church of Santo Domingo de Guzmán and its pedestrian plaza, the hotel appears discreet from the street. However, behind its historic façade lies a contemporary complex that extends the vitality of the public square through a series of picturesque courtyards, a lively rooftop terrace and cultural spaces. Grupo Habita's fourth property in Oaxaca, the 16-room Otro Oaxaca was designed by the award-winning, environmentally conscious RootStudio. These local visionaries have minimally reinterpreted vernacular materials, such as brick and red soil mixed with wood, wallpapers, suede, resin, and metal. The rooftop pool and restaurant highlighting regional cuisine offers panoramic views of the city, while an underground spa is hinted at with a brick dome. Floating staircases and flickering shadow plays define the outdoor spaces, while the interiors, designed by Carlos Couturier, showcase the region's craftsmanship. From the furniture to the bedding, everything has been designed specifically for Otro Oaxaca and handmade by local artisans with local materials, creating a utilitarian and sophisticated atmosphere at the same time.
