Or Bar

We envisioned a space that evokes a more care-free era of nightlife while facilitating convivial social interactions. We were intentional about creating a free-flowing experience that feels like going to a house party replete with eclectic art, great music and a seductive design. Or Bar’s location at 8228 Santa Monica Boulevard is inside one of the longest-running gay addresses in West Hollywood, dating back to 1976 when it opened as Lillian’s, a restaurant catering to the LGBTQ community. The name Or Bar comes from the French word for gold, “or”. It is a nod to the location’s more recent history as one of West Hollywood’s longest-operating gay bars, the Gold Coast, which shuttered permanently during the pandemic. Or Bar’s French disco design influences are from 1977 to 1983 era. From its refreshed facade to its dazzling new interior, Or Bar patrons encounter a nightlife experience that has been elevated on every level. The exterior features a custom black and metallic gold and bronze mural was executed by local, LGBTQ-owned Londubh Studio. The bar program focuses on simple yet elegant cocktails prepared with high-quality fresh and organic ingredients + premium liquors. A curated selection of wines, beers and non-alcoholic beverages round out the menu, and are offered alongside light bites.
