This exciting project will see the building, originally designed as a school by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, take on a new, wider purpose, including the creation of an early years nursery and a digital learning hub, in addition to the museum service. The refurbishment is part of Glasgow City Council’s ambitious expansion plans to offer the national commitment of 1140 hours of fully funded early learning and childcare to all 3- and 4-year olds – and eligible 2-year olds – in the city. Almost £45million has been awarded by the Scottish Government to fund these projects across the city.
