The Old Post Office Then The Old Post Office is composed of three buildings, the first completed in 1921, with its current form completed in 1934. Its capacity was needed to serve Chicago's great volume of postal business, inflated by the mail-order businesses of Montgomery, Ward, and Sears. ARCHITECTS: Graham, Anderson, Probst, and White The Old Post Office Now The historic art deco structure is 12 stories tall, with a total of 2,500,000 square feet of office-lead mixed-use develop- ment. The completed structure is home to more than 12 event spaces, including the Historic Lobby, which has been restored to its original state, and a 3.5-acre rooftop called the Meadow.
