Sunday lunches are sacred in Lebanon. That’s why nearly every week since my parents moved stateside in 1960, family and friends have gathered at our house to feast on a traditional Lebanese spread, shared over stories and full-bellied laughs so loud they echo down the block. The genius behind each mythical meal is and always has been my mother, Leila. That’s her on the left, in her element, dressed to the nines while masterfully frying falafel. Leila is an homage to her and to the heritage and traditions she holds so close to her heart.
