The Angel Orensanz Foundation

The Angel Orensanz Foundation for the Arts was established in 1992 as an artistic and cultural resource open to artists, writers, thinkers and leaders from all over the world, and to the community around us. Over the years we have welcomed and been inspired by Philip Glass and Spike Lee; Arthur Miller, Alexander McQueen, Salman Rushdie, Maya Angelou and Alexander Borovsky; Elie Wiesel and Chuck Close.We cooperate with PS1/MoMA; The Goethe Institute and the Whitney Museum, New York; the Italian Cultural Institute, New York University; Columbia University and Princeton University; the National Russian Museum of St. Petersburg and the Royal Shakespeare Company of London; The World Council of Peoples for the UN, the United Jewish Council and the American Academy in Rome. We work with independent artists from all over the world to develop here educational and artistic projects. The Foundation has just opened a digital department of cultural and artistic projects with a strong educational basis in the community.

The Box

THE BOX NYC consists of a 5,000 square foot three-level building including a reception foyer and two floors, which can accommodate 300 guests for an event or seat 133 guests comfortably for a dinner.THE BOX NYC is a full service production facility. We can provide entertainment specifically tailored for your event, from a single performance to a full length show. Our resident directors have created a plethora of numbers for you to choose from.

Mr. Purple

Using downtown New York as a backdrop, the 3,000 sq. ft. interior space is complemented by two terraces. The smaller 750 sq. ft. eastern terrace is perfect for an intimate gathering. The larger terrace located on the west side of the space measures 5,000 sq. ft., and is outfitted with its own swimming pool, bar and variety of seating options.

The Highlight Room

Inspired by the German Winter Garden that stood along the Bowery in the mid-18th century, The Highlight Room is a stylish garden in the sky perched high above the Lower East Side. Ascending on a dedicated elevator from a street-level alley behind the hotel, patrons arrive at a magical oasis 16 stories above the ground: Hanging plants and fabric lanterns sway from the ceiling above the bar, lush greenery springs from hidden corners, and, at the center, a majestic tree spreads its branches towards all four corners of the room.

New Museum

The New Museum is the only museum in New York City exclusively devoted to contemporary art. Found­ed in 1977, the New Museum is a center for exhibitions, information, and documentation about living art­ists from around the world. From its beginnings as a one-room office on Hudson Street to the inauguration of its first freestanding building on the Bowery designed by SANAA in 2007, the New Museum continues to be a place of experimentation and a hub of new art and new ideas.
