AMC The Grove 14

Built on part of the site of the Gilmore Drive-In (which has its own page on Cinema Treasures). The Grove is a wonderfully designed multiplex in a Neo-Deco style. Just like the movie palaces had in the past, there is a lofty large foyer, with a grand sweeping staircase, very plush, very ornate. Upstairs is what could be described as the mezzanine lobby where the auditoriums are located. Here there are large photographs displayed on the walls of former Los Angeles movie theatres. The Pacific Theatres at The Grove was opened on March 15, 2002. The auditoriums are black box style, state of the art, with large screens, surround sound and luxury stadium seating (the original seating capacity was 3,000). The theatre is next to the Farmers Market, which is a good place for lunch and just a short walk along the road is the Silent Movie Theatre.

Della Terra

A visit to Della Terra is like walking into a familiar Tuscan trattoria--comfortable, friendly, yet oh so elegant. Escuela Taqueria

Escuela Taqueria got its start in an intimate space on Stanley Avenue. In the summer of 2012, La Otra Escuela Taqueria opened in the former home of Cobras and Matadors on Beverly Boulevard. Here, the menu has been expanded from our original list of tacos and sides. Many of our favorite specials from our first year of business on Stanley have found a permanent home on the menu of La Otra.

Petty Cash Taqueria & Bar

A San Diego native, Chef Walter Manzke grew up taking trips to Tijuana and has fond memories of eating tacos, drinking tequila, and wild music-filled nights in the legendary town just across the border from his own. His inspiration behind Petty Cash was borne out of these memories coupled with the desire to recreate those flavors, sights, and sounds in a way that others could enjoy. Petty Cash’s menu features Chef Walter’s interpretation of street food classics, utilizing the best available local, seasonal and sustainable ingredients, rooted in multi-generational tradition and technique. The equally-spirited bar program features unique craft cocktails and beer on draft, as well as a range of eclectic Mexican spirits curated by Bar Director Shawn Lickliter and Bar Manager Alain D’Castro.The name Petty Cash pays homage to Johnny Cash and Tom Petty, and the eponymous band that covers their hits. This nexus of nostalgia, food, and music is what forms the underpinnings of what has become one of Los Angeles’ most popular and beloved taquerias.
