This is not an impotent rage against the machine of Big Alcohol. This movement is thinking bigger than viral hot takes and call-outs.Above all, We are inclusive. We welcome all voices, all pathways, and all mental health conditions because shame or loneliness should never be the cause of death for anyone. Ever.

George Washington Carver Museum

Our museum is housed in a 36,000 square-foot facility that includes four galleries, a conference room, classroom, darkroom, dance studio, 134-seat theatre, and archival space. The galleries feature a core exhibit, The African American Presence in 19th Century Texas, a permanent exhibit on Austin African-American families, an Artists’ Gallery, and a children’s exhibit on African-American scientists and inventors. Admission to the Carver Museum is free of charge.

Yes, we absolutely rent out our venue for parties, weddings, etc. Our outdoor kitchen hosts in-house culinary events, and we love discussing pop-up restaurant concepts and themed parties with independent chefs and caterers. Please Note: Kitty Cohen’s is not a music venue. We focus on chef-driven, culinary events. That means that we don’t book music.

Paperboy - Austin

Paperboy is available for rooftop rentals during the day and restaurant buyouts every night of the year. We brunch all day and become an event space by night. From private brunch parties to intimate group dining experiences, and cocktails on the roof-top, our venue can accommodate groups large and small.We use simple, quality ingredients in our dishes, with bread, juices, sauces and preserves made in-house. Hillside Farmacy

Hillside Farmacy resides in a building owned by one of the oldest standing African American East Austin residents. In the 50’s, pharmacist Doc Young & his family operated Hillside Drugstore. The Drugstore closed in the 70’s and the deteriorating building was lovingly restored by the Hillside Farmacy team and were honored to receive a Preservation Austin Award for their efforts. Hillside Farmacy is a restaurant & bar located at 1209 E.11th St. in the heart of East Austin. Just minutes from downtown, Texas State Capitol & the State Cemetery.Hillside Farmacy features indoor and outdoor event spaces. Our patios serve as the ideal setting for weddings, rehearsal dinners, corporate meetings and cocktail receptions. The side patio features a fountain, large retractable awning, both patios have large fans, free standing gas heaters & are dog friendly.

Blurred Vines

Our speakeasy inspired tasting lounge creates an intimate atmosphere for guests to immerse themselves in the stories of wine and so much more. Blurred Vines offers over 2,000 square feet to entertain with multiple seating areas surrounding a bar in the center of the room. This centrally located East Austin tasting room is perfect for birthday parties, holiday parties, work events, and any other celebratory event!

Vintage Bookstore & Wine Bar

To anyone who totes their books to bars, parks, restaurants, bus stations, and everywhere in between, this story is for you. Opening an independent bookstore may seem like an odd childhood dream, but it is one Jean nurtured for most of her life (despite growing up in the era of Amazon and big-box retailers). Until a few years ago, the only news headlines surrounding the indy bookstore business was the rapid rate at which they were declining. Despite this, Jean’s dream endured, and when fate landed her in Austin, she knew this was where she would make her dream a reality.Fortunately for her, some of the many joys of settling in Austin were the sights, sounds, and cultures of the Texas Hill Country. Jean could often be found reading books at her favorite wineries while learning about the quality, character, and tenacity of Texas vintners. It didn't take long before she had a realization at one of these picturesque Hill Country properties. Why not combine the two things she loved so much and that naturally went so well together? And thus Vintage was born. The seed that was planted and nurtured in the heart of a young book lover found a home in the rich culture of Austin, Texas and blossomed into the area’s first independent bookstore and wine bar.You're likely to find Jean behind the bar on any given day, so swing on by and say hello!
